I tracked my “Little Joys” for the past month and here they are:

About a month ago I decided to start tracking my “little joys” as they happened on a notes page on my iPhone. I define little joys as small random things that make you smile or make you feel happy in general. I love learning about other people’s little joys, especially when doing hot seats, and figured why not make a list of my own. I realized that writing them down helped me clearly see the little things that make me happy and also gave me a list of stuff I should start doing more of. I’m going to keep adding to this list but this is what it looks like after one month.

My little joys from the past month:

  • When you’re binge-watching a show during Christmas and the Christmas episode randomly comes on (applies to other holidays as well like thanksgiving)
  • When two of my random friends from completely different friend groups meet and send me a snap of each other
  • Listening to people talk about things they are passionate about, I often find myself getting excited about the most random and super specific things this way
  • Over analyzing the crap about movies, looking at every little aspect that makes a movie, and diving super deep into it. I have a huge appreciation for those who can tell stories effectively through movies
  • Recommending specific things to my friends such as books and podcasts, and them telling me they enjoyed it
  • When friends randomly recommend something specific based on my interests
  • When people feed those around them with cake after being sung happy bday to (realizing this might be just an Indian thing)
  • Talking to a childhood friend you haven’t spoken to in a long time
  • A cup of black coffee on a crisp morning
  • Deep and meaningful conversations
  • Recommending movies to friends
  • Watching movies in the movie theater multiple times (eg. watching Avatar 2 three times)
  • Going skiing, it reminds me of my childhood in Switzerland
